ADVANCED FUEL OIL
Heavy gas oils are found in gasoline and diesel. Gas oils are made using the least quantity of crude oil that has been atmospherically distilled, while heavy gas oils are made using the remaining crude oil that has been vacuum redistilled. Between 180°C and 380°C, gas/diesel oil separates. Several grades of gas oil are offered depending on the application. They include other gas oil, light heating oil for commercial and industrial use, and diesel oil for diesel compression ignition (cars, trucks, ships, etc.). There are also heavy gas oils, which are employed as petrochemical feedstocks and distill between 380°C and 540°C.

Fuel oil is a fraction obtained from petroleum distillation, either as a distillate or a residue. It is sometimes referred to as heavy oil, marine fuel, or furnace oil. In general, fuel oil is any liquid fuel that is used in an engine to produce power or is burned in a furnace or boiler to produce heat, with the exception of oils with a flash point below 42 °C (108 °F) and those used in cotton or wool-wick burners. Long hydrocarbon chains, particularly aromatics, cycloalkanes, and alkanes, make up fuel oil.
In a stricter meaning, the word “fuel oil” only refers to the heaviest commercial fuel that can be produced from crude oil, i.e., fuel that is heavier than gasoline and naphtha. Tiny molecules are eliminated at the beginning of the fractional distillation procedure because they have relatively low boiling points, such as those found in propane, naphtha, automobile gasoline, and jet fuel. The only materials denser than bunker fuel in oil distillation are carbon black feedstock and bituminous residue (asphalt), which is used for paving roads and sealing roofs. Heavier petroleum products, such as diesel and lubricating oil, are much less volatile and distill out more slowly, whereas bunker oil is literally the bottom of the barrel.
